Summer 2024 Intern Introduction: Martin Salazar-Schuster

My name is Martin Salazar-Schuster, and I’m a rising junior at the Horace Mann School in Bronx, NY. I have an interest in business and finance, and aim to expand my knowledge in these fields through working at Premier Chess. Through the years, I have undertaken business-related endeavors such as investing in the stock market, shadowing a Vice Chairman at a global real estate company, and taking Georgetown pre-college programs on investing and marketing.

Beyond the business world, I am also a very active chess player. I connected with Premier Chess after a very positive experience at Premier Chess’s Grand Prix Tournaments, which incentivized me to reach out to National Master Evan Rabin. I have been playing chess for around 2 years, I have played in nearly 100 tournaments, and my US Chess rating is just above 1400 (my FIDE (international) Blitz rating is 1495). In addition, I am an avid drummer (I play in multiple ensembles that perform various styles, such as jazz, rock, pop), soccer player, ultimate player, fencer, and environmental activist (leadership at an environmental non-profit). Overall, through my internship at Premier Chess, I aim to obtain more knowledge about the business and sales landscape, while helping spread one of my biggest passions: chess.
