Jersey City Instructor Freddy Rodriguez is a product of the 1972 Fischer Spassky World Championship Match chess boom that led mim to complete in Elementary, Middle, and High School scholastic tournaments in New York. He studied with elite FIDE Senior Trainer Grandmaster Boris Gulko.

Freddy's chess career highlights include winning 3rd place in the 2002 Dumont Chess Mates Club Championship and winning second place in the 32nd Bergen County Championship Class B section,
